The Cross

Before the Cross I humbly stand,

No fear can touch me in this land.

As to my God I now draw near,

Away departs, my every fear.

The Cross is Jesus’ agony,

His pain and lonely misery.

He let himself be led to death,

To save us with his final breath.

Through bloody offering on the tree,

He strengthened faith for all to see.

Jesus, God's own Holy Son,

Redeemed the sins of everyone

You look at me, my Jesus dear,

A blissful peace is washing clear.

You take away my heavy cares,

And fill me with your comfort there.

I gaze upon the cross in silence deep,

I close my eyes, your voice to keep.

"I love you and want you saved on high,

Take up your cross and do not cry.

To reach the heaven up above,

We must endure with patient love.

The way of the Cross we must trad,

For it the only path to God.

The cross is your protecting shield,

A dagger makes all demons yield.

From the true path, oh never stray,

Forgive and love and always pray.

Do not fear anyone or harm,

For you are held within My arms.

No enemy shall cause you fright,

For I, your God guard day and night."
