The Power of Words and Actions
The words we speak (or write online) can deeply hurt or deeply heal those around us. It is our choice to speak words that build up ourselves, our nearest and dearest and others in the wider community. Or we can chose to speak words that spew out negativity and only work to depress and destroy.
Words will carry love, grace, truth, beauty, faith, health, victory, and peace. They may also carry hate, doubt, lies, fear, unbelief, condemnation, chaos and disappointment. It really depends on what heart and motivation words are spoken with.
The Scripture makes it clear that 'death and life are in the power of the tongue' (Proverbs 18:21).
Jesus Christ used His words to heal, help and transform people and communities for the better and to call out hypocrisy and religious legalism. In our day, we have the opportunity to follow His example. Christ's actions followed His words. He did not just explain to us in his own words (found in the Gospels) how much God loves us but He demonstrated this love by giving His life for us.
Our society would be greatly improved if you and I began to understand the power of the words we say and if we backed them up with powerful actions, just as Jesus did.
